Human trafficking

On Wednesday 21 September members of our ministry and I joined several anti-trafficking organizations in a public protest at the gates of Parliament to focus national attention on this growing crime in South Africa. Women and girls graphically portrayed the hideous sexual exploitation of the human slave trade by dressing in tattered and torn garments; they were also bound with chains.

A memorandum was handed to the office of the Justice Minister demanding the urgent finalization and implementation of the “Prevention & Combating in Trafficking in Persons Bill.”

Women and children are kidnapped in South Africa and others are brought into the country under false pretenses of obtaining legitimate jobs. These vulnerable people are forced by pimps to take part in the most disgraceful sexual behavior. In fact, I have a friend who was offered sex with a minor in the City of Cape Town, by a pimp, whilst going about his daily shopping.

Just recently 17-year-old Louise de Waal was kidnapped while walking to school – her burnt body was later found on a farm.

The Church must stand up!

Gun court case

Gun Owners of South Africa, of which I am a founding member, helped establish and is supporting a court case in which the Minister of Police was charged for not paying compensation to citizens who handed their firearms in to the state. Gun owning citizens were illegally threatened by his department with incarceration if they did not comply with the new license renewals.

Judge Vincent Saldanha managed to change the verdict of the previous judge, who had ordered the state to provide guidelines for compensation as required by the new law. A case that was won, was thus lost.

Saldana has now given the complainants (gun owners) leave to appeal.

The government is also trying to pass The Dangerous Weapons Bill.

The stated intention of this Bill is to protect citizens from any criminal who ‘intends’ to use an object as a weapon to commit an unlawful act. How on earth can anyone be criminalized for the ’suspicion’ of intent or the possibility that they ‘may’ pose a danger. Until someone commits a crime, how dare the state presume guilt by intention?

The best defense against a bad guy with a dangerous weapon is a good guy with a dangerous weapon. Any law like this that stops law abiding citizens from protecting themselves is an illegitimate law.

Life Chain

2 October we took part in International Life Chain Sunday. Over 130 Christians formed a Life Chain to proclaim the sanctity of life in Cape Town. Life Chains also took place in five other cities in South Africa

The Life Chain is an international prayer rally and peaceful pro-life placard witness seeking to "speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves" (Proverbs 31:8).

According to official Department of Health statistics, 931 248 babies have been murdered by abortion in South Africa since abortion-on-demand was legalized in 1997.

Unfortunately, the Church sleeps.

Central Africa outreach

I have a great opportunity for ministry in Central Africa including: radio and television interviews, preaching and teaching in churches, and street outreaches.

These all make for great times of discipleship and of spreading the message of Christ’s sacrifice, redemption, salvation and promise of eternal life to those who have never heard the Truth.

The purpose of our mission trip will be fourfold:

First, we will be allowing God to work in our lives and those we minister to.

Second, we will be supporting the suffering Church, not only in prayer, but practically through teaching, music and literature distribution.

Third, we will be visiting and helping Christian men understand God's heart and His teaching on applying Biblical Principles to their families.

Fourth, we will encourage local Christians to be salt and light.

X-ray machine

Last month I mentioned that we desperately need used medical x-ray machines for the clinic that Bishop Lamba Lamba is opening in Lubumbashi, Congo.

The Lord has blessed us through a friend and a doctor who is donating her used x-ray machine to the medical clinic. The next miracle needed, is to get it there - please pray!
